Year Manufactured
The date the home was manufactured can be found on the HUD Data Plate located inside the home or on the stamp found inside the water tank of a toilet.
Manufacturer
The name or trade name of the manufacturer is located on the HUD Data Plate inside the home or on the name plate attached to the exterior front or entry side door.
Home Size
A single section home listed as a 18' x 64' may actually be 16' x 60', with a 3' hitch assembly and 1' roof eaves .
- To determine the size, measure the width and length of the home along the exterior perimeter at floor level, Do not include eaves or hitch in your measurements.
HUD Construction Code
The HUD code is a Red metal label permanently attached to the rear exterior siding of each transportable section, as required by HUD Title 6 Regulations effective June 1976. The removal of the HUD label(s) is illegal and will disqualify the structure as real property.
HUD Data Plate
The HUD data plate is normally affixed inside the home on or near the main electrical breaker box. It is printed on paper or foil stock either letter or legal size. This document verifies the Manufacturer,Year Manufactured, Model , Serial number, FUD code label and HUD construction zone.
Manufactured Home Serial Number Location
Manufactured Home Serial Numbers are located on the hitch or on the frame front cross member of a transportable section.
Modular Home Code and Location
Modular homes are built to a “Specification Code” following the National Uniform Code administered by the state in which it is manufactured. Fabricated dwellings that are manufactured in an off site facility for installation or assembly at a building site, must have a label that is constructed in compliance with the state's code.
Modular home code labels are often attached below the kitchen sink. Modular Homes will not have the red HUD label attached on the rear exterior siding. There are some manufacturers that will use the HUD data plate form, but a a State's modular Code will be there rather than the DAPIA code.
