Dimond Estates. Largest park in Anchorage,AK Featured
Dimond Estates was established in 1971, is owned by a local Corporation, and is the largest developed mobile home park in Anchorage (possibly in the State of Alaska), spanning 76 acres of land. At maximum capacity, we can accommodate 522 mobile homes. Homeowners must be at least 21 years of age. Homes smaller than 14' wide and Igloos are no longer accepted in this family park. Our streets and parking pads are paved.
The last Rent increase was June 2006, at $345.00 per month with a Security Deposit of $400.00. Rent includes Water, Sewer, and Thursday curbside trash pickup.
If you have a dog, this mobile home park is not for you. Dimond Estates does not permit dogs in the park, even if they are just visiting. All accepted pets must be inside pets, if they are found outside the home they may be caught and sent to Animal Control, or the wild animals may have them for dinner. Yes you read right, wild animals. Even thought our park is located in the southwest area of Anchorage; it is visited by Eagles, Coyote, Moose, Canadian Geese, Lynx, Ducks, an occasional Bear (generally only passing through to the creek on the other side of Dimond Boulevard to catch a fish for dinner), and various other Alaskan critters.
To assist our residents, we maintain lawn mowers and weed trimmers for their rental use to groom lawn areas at each home site. Compound space is available for residents to rent for the parking of their recreational vehicles on site. Dimond Estates has a fenced in playground with equipment for the younger children.
During the winter months, our personnel plow the park streets. This may take a lot of time, especially when it snows a few feet at a time. The biggest problem is where to put all the excess snow, some of it is piled at the office and the children make it into a sliding hill. We do not maintain parking pads and abide by the same rules as the municipality - residents maintain their driveway and not put their snow in the street and we will try not to leave a big snow berm in front of your clean parking pad. Of course when it all starts to melt, our streets may turn to rivers or sheets of ice. For a few weeks it seems as if they are frozen slushy ruts that just love to play - lets break your shocks. During this time of year we request residents be patient with our crew who attempt to keep it as smooth as possible but this is one of the hazards of living in snow country.
Every spring, in coordination with the Anchorage City Spring Clean Up Week in May, our personnel assist in cleaning up the Park. In previous years we also had held a clean up day for the youngsters to become involved with which included a barbecue for those who help remove trash from the areas and prizes given for trash/debris collected. Adult assistance was always welcome.
Registered to vote? You don't have to go far from home, voting is held in the Dimond Estates Office multi-purpose room.
Some of the Park Regulations are in place for crime prevention measures, such as the NO Soliciting (going door to door is not permitted). If solicitors, for any reason - books, vacuum cleaners, religion, etc., are found knocking on doors: they are requested to leave. If they return or do not leave, we request Anchorage Police Department remove or cite them. We have found that this has reduced the incidents of burglary. Dimond Estates also works with local and federal agencies in the prevention of crimes and apprehension of criminals. The speed limit within the Dimond Estates property is 20 M.P.H.; this is so the Anchorage Police Department can come into the park and write speeding tickets.
There are many children in our park and the curfew is that no youngster be out after 11 p.m. any night of the week. This includes summers when the sun seems never to fully set. Quiet time is after 10 p.m. but it is requested that residents not be disturbed at any time of the day or night. The Park playground had all new equipment installed the summer of 2003.
In a water taste test on Sept. 26, 2005 during the Alaska Rural Water Association’s Water Professionals Training Conference held in Anchorage, judges rated each water sample based on taste, clarity, and bouquet. Dimond Estates tied for second place in the state of Alaska and is the best tasting water in Anchorage.
